MARTINA FRANCA COAT OF ARMS |
|
Martina Franca coat of arms dates back to the beginning of the
Fourteenth century, when Filippo d’Angiò set the basis for to
the birth of the town. This coat of arms has a white galloping
horse over a green field. Above, there is the Fleurs-des-lis
that reminds the ancien origin of the town, and there is also
the town wall with the towers. It is framed by an olive branch
on the left, and an oak branch on the right. An ancient stone
reproduction of this coat of arms can be seen on Santa Maria
entrance architrave, from 1596.
