THE PIGNATA On the first sunday
during Lent, there is a tradition that is still alive in some
restaurants and in the rural areas. You have to break the
pignatta (a terracotta pot) Inside there are: candies, confetti,
ham and salami, dried fruits and other food that was not allowed
during Lent.
You draw someone who, with his/her eyes blind, foloowing the others’
directions, with a stick in his/her hands, tries to get closer
to the pignata and break it. |
