SANTA MARIA OF PEACE
This church is in front of Tripoli bar, at the end of the
corso (the main street) and it has been turned into a post
office so it doesn’t really remind an ancient sacred site. On
top of the façade there is an inscription with the date of
foundation of the church and the names of the architects that
worked on its project: “VITUS DE CAROLIS P. RENOVATIONEM DICAVIT
ET BERARDINUS FRATER ET HERES ADIMPLEVIT 1568 – ARCHITECTOR MS.
TITUS DE DURANTE ET MS. VITUS DE BASCIO ». |

The church only had one nave and apsis and there probably also
were some temperas of which there unfortunately are no signs. The
upper floor was added in the following centuries, after many
reconstructions. |

MONTE PURGATORIO CHURCH
This is a small and lovely church, built in 1649 and it used to
be the seat of the Congregation of the S.Monte del Purgatorio.
Its architectural style combines together two different
traditions: the medieval one and the baroque one.Outside, the
façade is refined by a rose window with single lancet windows
and a beautiful portal above which there is a tabernacle with
some frescoes. In this church there also is a lower space, with
a small temple for the Madonna della Grazia, and a superior one,
inside which there are beautiful art works. |

SPIRITO SANTO CHURCH
The Spirito Santo church is a lovely church consecrated to
the Holy Trinity, to which the fresco above the portal has been
dedicated. In ancient times it was a rupestrian chapel, then it
was rebuilt in 1598. |
