BASILICA OF S.MARTINO

The Basilica of S.Martino is a wonderful sacred place and it represents one of the best examples of the peculiar baroque style of Martina, that is known all over the world. This basilica dates back to the second half of the XVIII century and it is consecrated to the patron of the town.
 It is in the nice Piazza Plebiscito and it has been built over an ancient romanic collegiate church in a typical baroque style by the famous architect Giovanni Mariani, from Milan. The basilica has an elegant façade an admirable interior.

S.DOMENICO CHURCH

S.Domenico church is a peculiar sacred site that was built between 1746 and 1750 over a pre-existing romanic construction (consecrated to S.Pietro). Its project was made by the Dominican Friar Cantalupi.

The church has a smart baroque style and its façade is divided into two different orders, with double pilasters, and the capitals are embellished by caryatids with the shape of nymphs.

CARMINE CHURCH

Carmine church is a wonderful sacred place of the XVIII century and it stands outside the town walls. It was built between 1727 and 1758 in a smart baroque style.

 In this church there is a valuable polychrome statue that was before in an ancient building dedicated to S.Maria della Misericordia and assumed to Stefano da Putignano.
